It always amazes me how many organizations, companies and people in our world are willing to give you a helping hand. One such person is Art Alexander from the Chamber of Commerce. Listen in as Art shares the three corner stones of the Chamber of Commerce – Policy, Leadership and Leads. And Rob Read of Bison Fire Protection shares his thoughts on people engagement and focus. They joined me on SET for Success @680CJOB. 
As it turns out your local Chamber of Commerce can act as a lobby group for local business interest. The example provided was when the City decided to increase the fees for sidewalk signage to local small businesses. What did the chamber do? They made a big loud knock on the Mayor’s office door. The door was opened.
As for leadership, your local Chamber sponsors development programs for people in business. This is an opportunity to build your business acumen thereby expanding your abilities to be successful. There are over a hundred offerings per year. Art explains this in the interview.
Finally, leads. This is the opportunity to meet people and turn small talk into big talk, Art explains. I think in business and in life we long for meaningful conversations. Chamber sponsored events can lead to some really big talk. So you might want to check out what is coming up.
Rob Read of Bison Fire Protection also joined us and provided insight into the importance of fire suppression equipment for your business. He also clearly spoke on the company’s success and provided a great story on how staff members provide significant ideas on how to solve business problems. We have long known that gone are the days where the boss or manager is all knowing and can solve everything by themselves. Savvy businesses know that one of the keys to success is engaged happy people.

During the SET for Success tips and thoughts Art Alexander shared that he felt that it was important to have balance in your life, whether it be mind, body or spiritually and have everything in tune with one another. That was a great tip. We explored his thought on balance. Listen in to see what he said.
Art shared the importance of reflection as a means to regain focus in your life. Think about it. Do you take the time to reflex on your life, be in the present. Maybe ask what is the significance of this situation or event? Rob Read expressed the importance of the privilege of focus that one of his managers uses as a means of communicating the importance of focusing on one thing at a time. Think about the power of those words. It would mean that you could isolate or eliminate distractions and focus on the task at hand to provide the best possible solution.
In today’s wired world where there are so many distractions maybe the privilege of focus is something that we all lack.
